A team of podiatrists have received a nationally recognised award, according to a recent article in the Hartlepool Mail.
The podiatry team at Hartlepool PCT is the first in the North-East and only the second nationally to be awarded the Charter Mark.
The award is the government standard for customer service for public service organisations.
The 30-strong team, which is responsible for the care and treatment of feet, made a commitment to achieve the title following the sudden death in 2002 of Des Callaghan. He was the former head of podiatry and had started to develop the team and its services before his death.
Head of specialist service Nick McDonaugh said "This reward reflects the hard work and commitment of all of our staff over a long period of time.
"We have also worked closely with colleagues from primary and secondary care and have received excellent support from the local community.
"As a result of expert feedback from the assessors, I am confident we have improved our service to patients and improved staff morale, as well as providing good value."
