Recent press articles have reported on figures released which show that the cost to the NHS of foot injuries related to wearing high heels is £29M per year. The study of 1,000 women, funded by shoe company MBT, found that 42% had experienced an injury while wearing heels.

Emma Supple, consultant Podiatrist and spokesperson for The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists was quoted as saying "we need to mix and match our choice of footwear to allow our bodies time to recover."
