For the homeless and those living in hostel accommodation, Christmas can be a lonely and depressing time. For the past 38 years Crisis Christmas has helped to alleviate that loneliness, opening centres across London that not only offer vital companionship, hot meals and warmth, but a wide range of essential services. Over 8000 volunteers staff the entire event and last year, up to 2000 guests visited Crisis Christmas.
Crisis Christmas opens from 23 to 30 December 2009.
Improving the foot health of the homeless
Crisis Christmas' podiatry service provides a range of treatments and footcare advice to their guests, mainly treating corns, callus, mycotic and gryphotic nails, blistering and maceration. In 2008 the podiatry service provided treatment for 149 guests.
This year Crisis Christmas are again looking for qualified podiatrists to provide treatment for their guests and student podiatrists to help run the podiatry service.
If you have relevant skills and experience or if you know anyone else who would be interested please visit www.crisis.org.uk for more information or call 020 7426 3874.
