Foot experts condemn high heels for babies
The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists slammed high heels for babies today. It fears the introduction of the shoes for young babies could harm their feet and encourage children to start wearing high heels at a younger age.
Nita Parmar, from The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists said,
“I’m horrified that these type of shoes are available for babies. The toe areas on the shoes are pointed, but babies’’ feet are brick-shaped, and this may lead to injuries, deformity and stop normal development. Babies should be barefoot until they are walking competently.
“We’ve already seen evidence of children as young as eight wearing high heels. These shoes send the wrong message to children about keeping their feet healthy. Parents find it difficult enough already to keep their children in foot-friendly shoes, these high heels will encourage children to wear heels at an even younger age.”
